As known, Cheque Law was amended on March 26, 2020, to suspend the punishment of issuers sentenced for dud cheques at any time until March 24, 2020. It is regulated that if such issuer pays one-tenth of the amount of dud cheque in three months after release and if he pays the rest in fifteen equal installments from the end of the 3-month period the criminal sentence will be eliminated with all its consequences with a court decision.

According to the law proposal submitted to the Parliament on 05.06.2020, the 3-month period in this temporary regulation is intended to be increased to 1 year. In other words, the time period for issuers to pay 1/10 of the dud check is increased from 3 months to 1 year.

However this arrangement is still at the commission stage, therefore it should be taken into consideration that it is subject to some changes.
